Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show Albuquerque Theatre reviews
Melted my face...it was so good!!!
"Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show" was being advertised all day before the concert on the television screens in the elevators at Mandalay Bay as "the best live act in the world." The local DJ who introduced the show at the venue exclaimed, "Get ready for the best show you'll ever see!" Upon entering, my friend and I joked that there was no way the show could live up to this level of hype...but we were mistaken! The opening notes of "Uprising" reverberated through the amphitheater, confirming all the hype to be true. The energy and enthusiasm in the place as we sang along and jumped up and down felt reminiscent of the Bolshevik revolution in 1917...minus the violence, of course. The band played for an hour and a half straight without a break, seamlessly transitioning from one awesome song to the next, maintaining momentum. As they closed with "Knights of Cydonia," I marveled at Matt Bellamy hitting all the notes flawlessly. What makes Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show truly remarkable is their refusal to be preachy or waste time with chit chat. They simply deliver what you came for...a face-melting experience! Despite being a grown woman with a full-time job as a professor and various responsibilities, I am tempted to become a groupie and travel with them. Their performance was so exceptional that I am almost tempted to skip out on my students this week and drive all night to San Francisco to see them again! In conclusion, "Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show" live will undoubtedly MELT YOUR FACE!
